In today's video, we're going to be visiting a non-touristy oil town in Patagonia. When we told people we were going to Comodoro Rivadavia, they looked at us with surprise? "There's nothing to do there. The only people who travel there work in the oil industry." But we were curious, plus it was a very logical stop to break up the journey down to the land of ice and glaciers, so we decided to spend a few days in this off the beaten path destination.
The main attraction we visited in Comodoro Rivadavia was the National Petroleum Museum. Here we had a guided tour where we got to see where they first struck oil and also learn about how this event gave birth to the city.
The National Petroleum Museum has an indoor and outdoor component, so after touring the exterior and viewing some of the machinery on-site, we went indoors to take part in a simulation, where you can experience what it would be like to travel to the depths of an oil well. And well, it kind of felt a bit like an earthquake! Technically, it’s geared for kids and school groups, but that didn’t stop us from trying it.
Aside from that, we also visited a few different restaurants around town (because you know us and our love for food!) We went back to Cayo Coco del Mar to sample their paella, then we tried artisanal ice creams at Chocolates, and we also went to Puerto Mitre at the end of the day for a seafood pizza.
We hope you enjoyed the video!

@RobbieTravels3 years agoComodoro Rivadavia is the type of place I would visit. I like those unique looking places. One of my best trips I ever made was a trip around Ukraine from Kyiv to Chernobyl, to a Cold War Army Base where the nukes were pointed to US and Europe. Many people would not consider that a fun vacation but for me it was so unique and interesting. I for sure need to visit Argentina someday. Amazing food, beaches, the people and so much nice things to see.😊👌 ...5

@keysmash23593 years agoI'm really impressed, this is the first time I see a blog of this kind about my city! It's true this isn't a turistic place and people only came here for work in oil, I only know about a few adults who has born and live here since they were children (Most of them are from north province, like Tucuman, Rio Negro, Buenos Aires...) even there's an extended culture between adults and teenagers to leave the place as fast as they can, because if you're not interested in work with oil there's nothing really big to do (without counting all the corruption and far away it's the city of the rest of cities). It feels nice to see someone visiting the place and really enjoying it (almost all the people hate if for weather and all the other things I mentioned), and recognize the places you mention in the video it's one of the best parts for me... Thanks for make the video :) ...1

@solunasunrise3 years ago .... yeah after it evaporated most volatile matter open in the sun and left over was sticky black tar , but its not like you have to dig deep for tar in egypt and iraq ... there are spots on the surface where it comes up and keeps burning with small flames here and there ...
