Shenzhen-Hong Kong International Center will stand 700m above Shenzhen as China’s tallest building upon completion in 2024. The tower was designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill. Shenzhen-Hong International Center will be constructed using high-performance glass to reduce heat gain, the entire development will be orientated to optimize solar gain and natural ventilation The megatall skyscraper is set to become the tallest building in China, and the world's third tallest building behind SOM's 828-metre Burj Khalifa in Dubai and the 1,000 meter high Jeddah Tower, which is under construction in Saudi Arabia It will be built between the foothills of Longcheng Park and the Dayun National Park, and form part of the Chicago-based architect's wider masterplan for the Longgang district in the east of the city. The tower will be part of a larger complex that includes apartments, offices, a startup incubator, hotels, shopping centers, international schools, and a convention center in Shenzhen's Longgang district. Shenzhen-Hong Kong International Center will be topped with one of the world's highest observation decks, alongside a restaurant, night club, spa facilities and a swimming pool. The goal for the Shenzhen-Hong Kong International Center is to obtain LEED Platinum certification.
