Pruning fruit trees is simple. You can turn fruit trees into a hedge, keep a tree the size of a bush, train them against a wall or even to fit inside a garden bed, like I'm doing. In my Grocery Row Garden system, I have an orchard of small fruit trees, kept small by pruning. If you learn to prune and lose your fear, you can do it too. Summer pruning reduces fruit tree vigor and is a major tool to keep fruit trees small.
